“Why We’re Here: Twin Cities”

I found this lovely video online done by a local production outfit.  I think they wanted to capture the multitude of reasons why people love living in Minneapolis and St. Paul.  It speaks to the entire metro area, but personally I think it speaks especially to the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

I grew up in the suburbs and for college I couldn’t wait to get away.  After my first two years in college (3 hours away), I couldn’t wait to come back.  After college I bounced around the suburbs for a few years before finally finding my way back into the city of Minneapolis proper.   Now I don’t know that I could ever leave.  So many folks love to move to the burbs for the bigger homes and lots sizes.  Give me Minneapolis any day of the week.  I would love to raise my family right here in the city.  And what an amazing city it is!  I love traveling across the country and across the world, but there’s no place I’d rather come back to than here.  Besides, commuting from out state for 20+ Twins games a year would be a real drag…

As a side note, I think these guys did a great job shooting and producing the video (aside from the content, which I also like a lot).  Being a photographer, I always like to point out how its not the quality of the equipment that you use, but the skill with which you use it that really counts.  The video was shot using a Canon Digital Rebel T2i DSLR, which is by all accounts a consumer grade camera.  But it shoots ever-so-lovely video when paired with a nice prime lens, a sturdy tripod, and skillful hands to guide it.
